Kindergarten Wrap-Around was implemented in the Roxbury Township Schools at the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. Wrap-Around is offered at each of the four elementary schools within the district. The program is designed to extend the kindergarten day to a full-day session. The wrap-around teacher and aide work closely with the kindergarten teachers to discuss where additional instruction is needed and implement it into our program.
Currently at Jefferson School, we have 25 students enrolled in the wrap-around program!

A Typical Day
We have a very busy and fun-filled day!
Morning Meeting: Greeting, calendar, weather, announcements. We may sing songs and learn poems/fingerplays.
Story and Group Activity: We will read a story and do an activity to go along with the topic of the day. Students may work on their own, in pairs or in cooperative groups. Activities may include writing, drawing, using manipulatives or conducting a science experiment.
Snack/D.E.A.R: We'll have snack each morning. Please send in a snack from the approved snack list. The classroom is peanut free! Following snack, the students will have D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) where the students can either read on their own or with a partner.
Centers/Stations: Students work in centers to reinforce social and academic skills. I also plan on having the students work in math and literacy stations to reinforce concepts in those subject areas. At this time, we will also meet in small groups. Later in the year, we'll meet in small groups for guided reading.
Lunch: We eat lunch in the cafeteria. Students have the option of bringing a lunch from home or buying lunch from the cafeteria.
Recess: We play outside every day, weather permitting. If the temperature (or wind chill) falls below 32 degrees we will not be going outside.
Dismissal: Students will be escorted to their PM kindergarten classrooms.
